COWLING INSTALLATION
***PLEASE NOTE: THE REMOVAL OF ANY GEARBOX REQUIRES A NEW CENTERING BUSHING, EVERY TIME***
All new installations, using new cowling with bottom air inlet can cool better if using the trick in this video:
Cowling hinges and undersized pins are available on our store as a kit to help with the installation of your cowling.
· Cowlings have wax on them from the mold
· Remove wax before sanding/painting
· Viking 130 engines need the included fuel pump cover glued in place after cutting cowling to clear pump. Common adhesives would be flox or hysol. Many online pictures will show this bump modified to look like an air inlet with a screen.
· Be sure to level engine with washers in order for the spinner to be perpendicular to the front of the cowling
· The gel coat surface finish is complimentary and not intended to be a perfect finish. Cowlings need to be dewaxed, sanded, primed and painted
· Be extremely careful not to get primer or paint anywhere on the piano hinge loops in order for them to work properly
