Installation Service (Your Location)
For those that are interested in how an installation at your home/garage/airpark works, I did a small write up below, any questions please ask!
Installation Steps/Procedures Required to have Vikings in your garage
Before ordering your engine, please ensure you are to the aspect in your installation where we can install the engine.
Airframe on the main gear
Access to behind the panel
Turtledeck has to be ready to be clecoed in, in order to align the cowling.
I will go through your entire invoice and ensure everything is as needed for us to have all available parts to install. Important items for timing include having your propeller here prior and your engine mount powder coated.
Please proceed with payment (check or wire transfer)
Please ensure you have electricity where we will be working and an engine hoist (if you don't own one, you can get them at Harbor Freight pretty easily, or a lot of EAA chapter loan them out as well)
We bring all other tools if they are specific and specialty.
I will send over the acceptable dates for the installation, for non-turbo engines it takes 3-5 days and for our turbo installations estimate 5-7 days.
Flights will be purchased by Viking initially, to be re-imbursed with parking fees at the airport as well. (We fly as cheap as possible)
Ideally, we would be picked up from the airport and taken back. If that cannot be done, a rental car will be purchased by Viking and re-imbursed via customer.
We generally stay at the home of the installer, nothing fancy required - just need to sleep. If that cannot be done, other room and board will need to be provided.
What we will do and what is covered under initial charge:
Install your entire fuel system and wire
Install your engine cooling system
Install your entire intercooler and plumbing
Install your entire cowling
Install the engine electrical systems
Install your throttle cable
Install your heater if purchased (installation is extra/hourly)
Install the propeller/spinner
Run your engine, purge the system
You will have a running engine that is fully plumbed, wired and purged.
Extras:
Dual throttle
Engine Monitoring System (unless this is our system, we do not deal with the programming as they all vary greatly, but can install sensors)
You will need to purchase the oils and coolant from us or another source locally.
Switches or breakers
Any extras that may be needed during the installation (extra fuel hose, abnormal wiring requirements, switches etc.)
We do not:
Do any cosmetic work, such as cowling cosmetics, paint, wire bundling etc., but we can offer guidance and suggestions for your build.
