RV12 Shield made of fiberglass.
The first step is to obtain the outer most template from the RV Plans
This template is normally used for cutting the largest piece of fiberglass if you make the faring yourself.
Test fit the template on your airplane with the canopy fully closed and trim for a good fit
Transfer the template to the Viking Shield
Rough Trim the Viking Shield outside the template
Test fit the shield to the airplane
Trim as needed, for a good fit
Mark the template boundary onto the windshield with a dry erase marker
Lightly sand the area with 400 grit paper
Bond the faring to the window with Permatex "The Right Stuff" Part Number 765-2427
Apply the glue in a heavy bead, 1 inch away from the edges in order for it not to squeeze on the windshield
In addition to the above, you also have to locate the pivot holes, one suggestion is to use socket head screws in order to maintain a small hole rather than having to open up the hole for a socket to fit over a hex head bolt.
It is not very different from the Vans procedure other than it is a pre-made part instead of strips of fiberglass.
